About Wanda Macpherson

Wanda is known to be primarily a plein air painter following the path with her husband, Kevin Macpherson. 

A career in art was far from her mind when Wanda graduated from college with a degree in business. However, her creative side has triumphed through a long and happy collaboration with Kevin Macpherson, partner and renowned painter. Together they work as fully engaged partisans in a commitment to artistic creation at the highest level. Wanda has studied at the Scottsdale Artists’ School with some of the country’s best artists and years of side-by-side instruction with Kevin have given her an artistic foundation to explore her own path. She has developed a delicate impressionistic technique and sensitive color harmonies through the keen observation techniques known to ‘en plein air’. She developed her own unique sensibility slowly, never pressured by commitments to galleries or a need to sell her work. Kevin proudly describes the results, “I now see that Wanda has natural qualities that are all her own. I admire her color shifts, her subtle handling of light, and her simple clarity. She has a warm eye and an extreme sensitivity to the nuance of color.

Wanda works in oils, painting on location throughout the United States and Europe. She is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society winning the ‘Oil Painting’ award in 2000. Additionally, her paintings and technique were selected to be included in two books, “Landscape Painting Inside and Out” and  “Painting With Water Soluble Oils”. Both books are currently available through Northlight Publishing. Wanda has been invited to participate in shows such as the Montgomery Museum of Art, Catalina Island Museum: Plein Air Painting Exhibition 2008 , Taos Fall Arts: Taos Invites Taos show, Arizona Desert Museum: Plein Air Arizona, American Impressionists Society, From Colorado Springs to Taos show, Springs Arts: Invites Taos Best, and Best and the Brightest at Scottsdale Artist’s School. Her paintings have been featured in the Taos Magazine and U. S. Art.

Wanda and her husband, Kevin Macpherson, have collaborated as  mentors  with En Plein Air Masters the last few years bringing students to France, Iceland, Norway, Spain and  Belgium, and Canada sharing their artistic experience.
